Rhinodons at the 2019 OTC (Ontario Team Championship)

I love warmachine team tournaments: you discuss strategies with teammates, plan pairings, try to get the best tables for your team and after the action you can discuss the heroic actions or tragic losses that impacted the overall team effort.
While they are fairly rare, I'm lucky that I can count on the Ontario Team Championship to bring all the joys of a nice big team tournament fairly close to home (6 hours drive).

This year, the event filled up before 'non-sponsored, non-premium' registrations even went live, to the point there were extra spots and an additional room rented for a whooping 38 teams. That's 190 warmachine players for you!

Major thing that affected the event: Circle and Skorne both got CIDs (updates to some of their models) and as a result were more popular, thus warping the meta and changing list building.

Now on a more Trollbloods-related discussion...

Breast Cancer Brawl 2017: Bigger and Firmer

We continue our round of Team Tournaments in Canada with the 4th Team Tournament for the Montreal Rhinodons: the Breast Cancer Brawl (or BCB for short). As requested by the TO, the Montreal Rhinodons took the name of ''Bienvenue chez les Ch'Tits'' in order to have a bad pun involving breasts in the name.

As the tournament's name suggests, it was created to raise funds for breast cancer research as well as being a great opportunity to play some WarmaHordes games.

I went with the usual Rhinodons suspects: Tacin and Felix.

Welcome to the Ch'Tits!

No, its not a Chtulhu pun.

My Converted Grissel, Fell Caller (Painted), Storm Troll and Bouncer

I was lurking on the recently joined Facebook Trollbloods Community when during a discussion about how ugly the original Grissel, Fell Caller miniature is, one member threw the genius idea that Janissa could be converted into a better looking Grissel.

I usually try to avoid proxies like the plague but if there is one model that would push me to play a proxy, it is this one.

Here is my take on the Grissel, using instamolds for some Epic Grissel parts (I truly am horrid with green stuff), a spare hammer from Runeshapers and...

Northkin Fire Eaters (90% complete) and the Next Project

Hello folks,

Here is one of my two squads of Northkin Fire Eaters, they are almost complete (need to finish up some details here and there, some highlights, the mug on one guys, some freehand, work on the fire a lot more), I would say they are at the 90% mark as I wouldn't be too ashamed to field them on the table in their current state.

Yay for paper towell

Jarl and the Hunters Grim Pictures

I finished my Jarl Skuld and Hunters Grim.
Bases still need work, flocking, etc...But overall I consider these done for now. :)

While Jarl was my drop for last year Chaosludik, Hunters Grim will be the 2015 replacement, hopefully giving the same amount of headaches and trouble to my opponents as Jarl did.

Grim Experiment vs Mordikaar, Kriel-Fu vs Fist of Halaak

Today saw some intense fighting as I got to play both Calandra AND Hunters Grim in two very intense games against Alain's Skorne.
Despite my horribly fuzzy memory (lack of sleep combined with 8 hours of intense gaming), I offer you a battle report as well as tons of pictures taken from a phone camera!

Grim Experiment vs Mordikaar:

Scenario: Recon

The Grim Experiment

Tomorrow I get to face Alain again, and we will proceed to 'list chicken' with two lists each.

While I intend to have in my bag my Calandra list, I know that probabilities are high I will face Alain's Fist of Halaak.
While Calandra should be able to withstand the onslaught, I wanted to have a second list in my bag that I've been working on...Or more than a second list, a second caster: Epic Grim a.k.a. Hunters Grim.
Image property of Privateer Press...I just used it because my phone was too dead to take a picture of my WIP Hunters Grim. Quality blogging at its finest!

What is eGrim bringing to the table?

Calandra's School of Kriel-Fu vs Mordikaar Attrition/Assassination List

I got to try my Calandra ''School of Kriel-Fu'' list today.

I understand this will make for a very dry battle-report but I decided to write it anyway because this game showcase the Kriel-Fu vs a very competitive Mordikaar list and gives insight as in defeat we learn.

Calandra's School of Kriel-Fu vs Mordikaar Attrition/Assassination List

Opponent: Alain
Age: Unknown...He his rumored to be as old as Zaal.
Passion: Unknown but he probably likes painting his Skorne because they are gorgeous!

My opponent, Alain was playing a Mordikaar competitive list that had the following:

The School of Kriel-Fu

The bright orange clothes of my trollbloods always made me think of Shaolin Monks and now that I've seen a certain 30 minutes movie that is free on Youtube (This one to be more precise) I couldn't help but think of that title.

Here are my three latest things I painted:

A Second Earthborn Dire Troll Mauler:

its pose makes it so hard to take good pictures...

Business Time can wait, you have to read my Templecon Report.

Templecon 2015.

Well that was fun!

Yes, this a Dire Troll Mauler being moved by a crane
so he can jump on a Galleon...Templecon was THAT crazy!

From crazy 4-hours long Warmachine team games to an Unleashed demo and seeing a painted Sacral Vault (painted by my friend Paul), I've been quite spoiled in this beginning of 2015...And that's not even factoring in all the clam chowder!

GV Brasstards : an epic Warmachine/Hordes Team Tournament Saga

The Chaosludik Warmachine Team Mega battle report!!

Yesterday was a big day for the Montreal 's wargaming community as it was the beginning of Chaosludik: a two days gaming convention with tournaments for Warmachine/Hordes, 40k and warhammer fantasy.

Earlier this year,  a friend of mine and blogger on this blog DanM had expressed his wishes to mount a team for the Team Warmachine event happening on Saturday.  Being a great fan of team events, I volunteered to be part of it and so did my boss DanT (yeah "Daniel" is a popular first name around here).

DanT's colossal, quickly airbrushed till 1:37am the night before the tournament.

Jarl: Thick Fighting in the Thornwood

Jarl looked through the bushes: the Khadorans mechanics were still shovelling coal in the Warjack's furnaces and he could ear the chief complain they were lacking enough coal to have more than one Spriggan to be ''combat ready''.

The Kommandant, a black-haired woman wearing warcaster armor, nodded and then said with a cold voice that if these warjacks could'nt be battle ready then maybe the Trollblood's beast could help them...As she spoke that last sentence she turned her gaze to Jarl's hiding spot and looked in his direction as if she had pierced his camouflage.
Could she sense him?

He'd ask her the question later, Jarl stood up and walked slowly toward them with his arms open to try and convey his pacific intentions, he then used all his memory to try and make good khadoran sentences and, looking at the woman, offered to make an alliance against the Cryxians.
As much as he hated the Khadoran invaders, these days they were less numerous than the Cryxians in his beloved Thornwood and at least he got to grow back wounds from their weapons contrary to the necrotite-fueled weaponry used by the Dragon Empire's Helljacks.

Cryxians by Jonathan B. Although only the necrosurgeon appeared in this game, they were too cool for me not to post.

Looking at her battered Destroyer, Kommandant Sorscha saw no other choice but to accept the Troll Bandit's alliance, that decision might have been influenced by the Dire Troll Bomber's heavy footsteps as he started walking behind Jarl.

Pacific Grim

Here's a nice pictures of a game I fought versus Guillaume J.'s Cygnar, it has nothing to do with this post but I just recovered pictures from that game and needed something good-looking enough to make you click and read this post.

Collect the personal notes of astronomer-Mathematician Ledore

The news of the dragons attack on the South of the Thundercliff Peaks weighed heavy on the constellation; much respect was afforded to professor Ledore Jiselle for his work with N-body orbital solutions, and many times in his career he was extended invitation to join the convergence. His refusal was unfortunate, but his death at the hands of those that sought to exploit the carnage wrought by the dragon for profit was entirely deplorable. The thought now was that at the very least, some of his work could be preserved; if of course some of his notes could be recovered.

"You were an obvious choice" voxed one of her body guards for the fourth time at least "Ideally, the notes could be recovered and we could be off in hours; Your skills suit the task"

Truth of course, it still felt like punishment. The mission was glorified courier service, and any number of Optifex from the inner cult could have done the job just as well. Sending one of the few warcasters goaded confrontation almost as much as it protected against it. That much had been proven true in the earlier confrontation against the trolls

"Lets just get it done." replied Arurora, thrumming her displacement field to maximum power and making acceleration towards the mansion. Six angels fell in line behind her,

From God to...Gunmage? Ep.1

This is my version of Jarl's Story during the 1st Season of the Charsaug League.

To read the official league fluff: Charsaug Official Story Week 1
The Charsauf League's official map: Charsaug Season One Map
The Event at Gamers' Vault (It started today and will end at the end of March): Charsaug League at Gamers' Vault...Come on! Register!

For those curious, the title represents my choice to go from playing a wanna-be-god Gator (Bloody Barnabas) to a Trollkin Gunmage (Jarl).
Not only do I love gunmages and think they are one of the Iron Kingdoms' coolest aspect, but it is also the occasion to give my Trollblood some games and change from Gatormen.

A Minions Ways to Lose: Ep.6 The Slaughter Intensifies

I played two games on my Wednesday with my almost fully painted Gatormen Posse, I went straight to write the 2nd game as it was so action-packed I was affraid I'd forget details.
I will write my first game versus David W. and his ''War of the Worlds'' convergence of Cryriss tonight or tomorrow with more games as I got my Thursday night free.
For now, enjoy a Cryx vs Gatormen Battle-Report.

A Minions Ways to Lose: Ep 5 Family Reunion + Trollbloods

Week 3 of the Journeyman Warcaster League at Gamers' Vault and now the armies have reached 25pts.

This time I only played two games and didn't even manage to paint something up...Although I could have finished my Gatormen.

Well the reason these Gatormen weren't finished is in this picture. Yup, that's right: eGrissel.
I get really easily distracted and when I want to paint something, it is hard not to do it.

A Minions Ways to Lose: ep.4 When the Going Gets Though...

The though rolls get going!

So the Journeyman League reached week 2 and as such games would now be played in a 15pts format.
Not only is the Battlegroup for the Blindwater Congregation quite good (2 heavies, a warlock that wrecks enemy heavies on a regular basis) but it also only cost 11 points meaning...

That I get to add two Croak Hunters! (aka ''Fighting Ouaouaron or as my friend Antoine said: War-Ouaron)

Ribbit!!

A Minions Ways to Lose: ep.3 ...Swimmin' Log

''I Think that tree log is swimming toward me...''
Is probably most people's last words when they encounter a Bull Snapper.

For today's 'A Minions Ways to Lose', a very small blog post just featuring my Bull Snapper's pictures.

A Minion Ways to Lose: ep.2 Let the losing begin!!!

A Journeyman League started at my Friendly Local Gaming Store (aka: Gamers' Vault) and I chose to give it a try as it would motivate me to paint my Gatormen and maybe I could get some games in.

But first, I needed to paint Bloody Barnabas as there is only one list you can play with for Gatormen at the beginning of the league.

Proof that I painted it for this league, here is my unpainted model
